Here we're talking about chocolate with at least a 70% cocoa content, and of course in moderation. As if we need a reason to eat it, here's a few crazy benefits:
Dark chocolate contains flavanols, polyphenols, and other antioxidants as well as prebiotics. It can lower blood pressure, improve blood flow to the brain and other organs, improve gut health and has anti-inflammatory properties. AND Dr Amy Shah's Optimizers Newsletter on Feb 21, 2025 gave us even more reasons to love our chocolate saying, "There is growing evidence that dark chocolate may have many health benefits beyond its delicious taste. It is showing that eating dark chocolate, specifically with 70-80% cacao, can boost the number of stem cells in your blood. Stem cells are essential for regenerating healthy tissue and support healing."
Hell to the YES!
OK, so there is one reason to limit your love of dark chocolate... heavy metals. Dr Amy's Optimizer Newsletter from March 28, 2025 shares some of the better chocolates to choose from.
I'd recommend signing up for Dr Amy's newsletter. It's always got some great information.
And a shout out here to my very good friend who has an entire store display sleeve of Madagascar Chocolate in her cupboard. It's always healthy spending time with you! I like my dark chocolate wrapped around almonds.
